Wonder Towards Easter with The Strathspey Kirks
Wednesday (Betrayal Begins – A Quiet Day in the Gospels)
📖 Matthew 26:14–16 – Judas agrees to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
Then one of the Twelve – the one called Judas Iscariot – went to the chief priests and asked, ‘What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?’ So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.
📝 Reflection:
Judas sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver, around the price of a slave. It’s shocking, yet heartbreakingly human. In big or small ways, we’re all tempted to trade Jesus for something we think we need more—security, success, acceptance.
Wednesday is often called the "silent day"—Jesus did not speak publicly. But silence can be powerful. It gives space to reflect. I wonder what God might be quietly revealing to us today.
Prayer:
Merciful Lord, forgive us for the times we have chosen lesser things over You. In the stillness, speak to our hearts. Strengthen our devotion. Amen.
