Exciting news about our redevelopment plans for Inverallan church!

We have just heard that planning permission has been granted, on appeal, for the installation of solar panels on the roof of our church.  This means that we can at last move our Inverallan 20/20 project forward.

First conceived in late 2015, and started in earnest about a year later, this project is seen as vital for the survival of our lovely church building, and is aimed at turning it into, not just  a lovely place to worship in the 21st century, but also as a much more useable community asset for the benefit of all.

BUT (there's always a "but" isn't there?) we have just heard that although Planning Permission has been granted, we have not yet been given Listed Building Consent.  So we must wait for that process to be completed.  We have faith that the result will be positive, to ensure the survival of our beautiful building and to do our bit to save our planet.  When one considers that the cost of heating our building last December was £1800, and this was simply for 4 services and 2 funerals each of one hour's duration, and 2 concert of not much longer, it is clear that we simply must adapt the church to make heating affordable.   Having investigated all avenues, we are assured that solar panels and interior alterations are the only possible solution.

Chester, Gloucester and Salisbury Cathedrals are amongst the UK Cathedrals which are listed buildings (unlike our church, these are all Grade 1 listed) to have been allowed to install roof-mounted solar panels, and we hope to join this illustrious list.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the enormous number of local people who have used social media to express their delight on hearing that Planning Consent has been granted - we are so encouraged by your support.
